General Introduction
Evaporative Cooling Pads (Wet Pad)
The Evaporative Cooling Pad system, also known as wet pad or cooling pad, is a highly effective and energy-efficient cooling solution for greenhouses, particularly in hot and dry climates.
Located in the north gable wall, the cooling pads work in conjunction with exhaust fans to create a negative pressure cooling effect.
Evaporative cooling pads are constructed of cellulose paper with a cross-fluted design. Water flows through the pads, saturating the cellulose material. As hot outside air is drawn through the moist pads by exhaust fans placed at the opposite gable or sidewall, the water evaporates, absorbing heat from the air and cooling it before it enters the greenhouse.
This process can reduce incoming air temperatures by 10-15°C, or 18-27°F, depending on ambient humidity levels.
